Needle of Hope Tailoring Program
Beyond Knowledge, We Develop Skills.
The Y-CARE Needle of Hope Tailoring Program, implemented by Youth Hope Builders Initiative (YHBI), is a practical tool for poverty eradication that equips vulnerable youth, adolescent mothers, unemployed graduates, and young women with market-driven tailoring and entrepreneurship skills. Through hands-on vocational training, mentorship, business development, and market linkages, participants gain the practical skills needed to secure decent employment or establish sustainable enterprises. By investing in this program, we empower young women to become economically independent, strengthen household incomes, reduce poverty, and contribute to resilient, self-reliant communities where opportunity replaces vulnerability.
In Migori Town, many adolescent girls and young mothers possess the determination to succeed but lack practical tailoring skills that can translate into sustainable livelihoods. Limited employment opportunities, poverty, and financial dependence leave many vulnerable to early marriage, exploitation, and chronic unemployment.
Through the Y-CARE Needle of Hope Tailoring Program, Youth Hope Builders Initiative equips them with hands-on tailoring, fashion design, and entrepreneurship skills, enabling them to start small businesses or secure employment. Beyond learning a trade, participants gain the confidence and economic independence to provide for their children, support their families, and build brighter futures.
By investing in tailoring skills, we help transform vulnerability into opportunity and poverty into lasting prosperity for young women in Migori Town.
