Through the Y-CARE Program, Youth
Hope Builders Initiative (YHBI) is currently supporting a total of 897 learners in
Early Childhood Education (ECD) and lower primary school across
different partner schools, strengthening access to quality foundational
learning for children aged 3–13 years. The beneficiary group includes 406 boys and
492 girls, reflecting strong gender inclusion and equitable
participation in early learning opportunities.

At this level, children are being equipped with essential foundational
skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and socio-emotional development.
The program focuses on school readiness, ensuring that learners transition
smoothly into primary education with the cognitive and behavioural competencies
required for continued academic success.

The intervention also integrates holistic child development components,
including improved learning environments, child protection systems, nutrition
support, teacher capacity strengthening, and active parental engagement. These
combined efforts ensure that children learn in safe, nurturing, and stimulating
environments that promote overall wellbeing.

The Y-CARE Program continues
to demonstrate positive results in improved attendance, active classroom
participation, and stronger early learning outcomes. By investing in these 897 young learners, YHBI is building a
strong foundation for lifelong learning, resilience, and productivity, while
contributing to reduced inequality and sustainable community transformation.

Recreational as a tool for learning and Equality

Through its swimming program, Youth Hope Builders Initiative provides children with a safe and engaging recreational activity that promotes physical fitness, confidence, discipline, and teamwork. Swimming helps children develop life-saving water safety skills while improving their mental well-being, concentration, and self-esteem. For vulnerable children, the activity offers a positive outlet for stress, encourages social interaction, and creates opportunities for personal growth, healthy development, and participation in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Early Child Based education Support

Youth Hope Builders Initiative prioritizes Early Childhood Education because the first years of life shape a child’s future learning, health, and well-being. Quality early learning equips vulnerable children with foundational literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills essential for lifelong success.

Early intervention improves school readiness, boosts academic achievement, reduces dropout rates, and helps break cycles of poverty. Investing in young children today creates confident, educated, and empowered future leaders and change-makers.

Pre-School ICT Inclusion Program.

The Pre-School ICT Inclusion Programme under YHBI, within the Y-CARE framework, introduces early childhood learners to foundational digital skills through safe, age-appropriate, and play-based learning approaches. The programme integrates basic ICT exposure such as interactive learning tools, educational games, visual storytelling, and guided use of digital devices to strengthen cognitive development, creativity, and early problem-solving skills.

Delivered through trained early childhood educators and youth mentors, the programme ensures inclusive participation, including children from underserved communities. It also emphasizes digital safety, structured screen time, and child-centred pedagogy aligned with early learning standards.

YHBI further conducts pre-school ICT inclusion research to assess access, readiness, gender equity, disability inclusion, and learning outcomes. The evidence generated informs curriculum design, policy advocacy, and scalable models for equitable early digital learning.
