Baby Haven IMPACT
YOUTH HOPE BUILDERS INITIATIVE (YHBI)
Y-CARE Baby Haven Childcare
Services Impact Report (2022–2026)
Programme Overview
Baby Haven Childcare Services is a flagship
initiative of the Youth Hope Builders Initiative (YHBI) under the Y-CARE
Programme, providing holistic early childhood care and development services for
children aged 6 months to 3 years. The programme primarily serves
children of adolescent mothers, young mothers, children under care of elderly
grandparents, and other vulnerable caregivers, ensuring every child
receives a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment during the most
critical years of development.
Baby Haven enables adolescent and young mothers to return to
school through YHBI’s School Re-entry Programme while providing quality
childcare that supports children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social
development. Upon reaching school age, children transition seamlessly into
YHBI’s Early Childhood Education Programme, ensuring continuity in learning and

Key Achievements
Safe Childcare Services
Baby Haven provided a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where 587 vulnerable children received quality care while their parents or caregivers attended school, work, or other livelihood activities. The programme significantly reduced childcare challenges faced by adolescent mothers and vulnerable households.
Early Learning and School Readiness
Children participated in age-appropriate play-based learning that strengthened language, motor, cognitive, and social skills. Every child graduating from Baby Haven was prepared to transition into YHBI’s Early Childhood Education Programme with the foundational skills needed for successful learning.
Nutrition and Healthy Growth
Children received nutritious meals, growth monitoring, hygiene education, and nutrition support that contributed to healthier growth, improved immunity, and better learning outcomes.
Health Screening and Referrals
Routine health assessments enabled early identification of health concerns and timely referrals to health facilities, ensuring children received appropriate medical care and developmental support.
Child Protection
The programme maintained child-friendly environments that protected children from neglect, abuse, violence, and hunger while promoting children’s rights and safeguarding practices among caregivers and communities.
Parent and Caregiver Skills Empowerment
More than 587 parents and caregivers were equipped with knowledge and skills in positive parenting, child nutrition, early stimulation, and child protection, enabling them to create supportive home environments that foster healthy child development.
Supporting Adolescent Mothers
Baby Haven has played a vital role in supporting adolescent mothers by providing reliable childcare that enables them to return to school and continue their education. This approach helps break cycles of poverty while improving long-term outcomes for both mothers and their children.
Programme Impact
The Baby Haven Childcare Services programme has transformed the lives of vulnerable children and families by providing quality childcare during the most critical years of life. Children have developed essential cognitive, emotional, physical, and social skills, while caregivers have gained confidence and capacity to provide better care. The programme has also strengthened school re-entry opportunities for adolescent mothers and ensured children transition smoothly into formal early childhood education.
Future Priorities
YHBI aims to expand Baby Haven Childcare Services by increasing enrolment by 230%, strengthening nutrition and health services, enhancing learning facilities, training more caregivers, and reaching more vulnerable children and families. With continued donor partnership, Baby Haven will continue giving every child the best possible start in life while creating opportunities for adolescent mothers, young mothers, and vulnerable caregivers to build brighter futures.
